Client Responsibilities
Your main responsibilities in counseling and coaching are to attend your regularly scheduled sessions, talk about what is bothering you as openly and honestly as you can, and complete any tasks or "homework" assignments you may be asked to do. These assignments are necessary as they help you process and work through issues on your own and reach your own conclusions about the problems or issues you may be focusing on in your sessions.
You are expected to let your counselor/coach know if you are unable to make session within 24-hours, before the session or you will be charged for the session. Your session time is just that, your session time. This time is designated for you and will not be filled by any one else.
You are also expected to let your counselor/coach know when your problems have been solved as well as if you think you're making any progress. Lee is very interested in your progress and wants to know if you are benefiting from coaching. If not, then another approach needs to be taken. This, of course will be decided by both you together.
Common Difficulties in Counseling/Coaching
One of the most difficult steps in coaching occurs before you even talk to a counselor/coach for the first time. Deciding to seek coaching is the first step in change. Once this decision has been made, the mechanics for change have been set in motion.
In the process of changing the way you think, feel, or behave, usually you must try out new ways of doing things. This may make you anxious or frustrated. Just know that everything in life requires some sort of process, and we as humans are no different. It is through the process that we usually benefit the most. Just be patient and allow yourself to "experience" the process.
Also, in the course of counseling/coaching, you may come to realize that things you once thought of only as positive or negative, black or white, may seem somewhat different as you grow and learn. This can be both fun and scary.
The challenges of pushing your limitations may also cause you frustrations, but with commitment and practice, you will find that you can stretch your limits and find new and exciting aspects of yourself.
